Who gets your donation?:
Adults who are developmentally, physically and/or emotionally disabled residing in Palm Beach County, Florida.
The Palm Center Thrift needs donations of furniture, household items, clothing, etc. TJ's Cafe can use donations of food items.
Current programs include on-campus employment and training, supported employment, work evaluation, competitive job placement, computer and food service training, case management services, support services including mobility training, community based residential options, retirement services, recreation and community inclusion opportunities.
The Center provides services to over 700 people with disabilities annually and has placed over 8,000 people in community employment. The geographical scope of services includes all of Palm Beach County, including the Belle Glade area.
Our vision is to provide Palm Beach County adults with disabilities with best environment in which to learn, the best environment in which to live, and the opportunity to have friendships in their own community.
The main Center is located on a ten-acre campus in Lake Worth. Thirty-four independent residential sites are spread through the county, which includes apartments and three group homes. An additional 279 community business work sites employ people who have been trained by the Center. Contracts with community businesses such as Florida Power and Light and City of West Palm Beach provide excellent employment for many clients off campus where they can become familiar with the realities of a "real work environment" with under PBHC staff supervision.
